Nursing student allegedly arrested after suspension over exposure of poor conditions at Uwani health centre, Enugu

Joy Ezeugwu, a nursing student previously suspended after she reportedly exposed the poor condition of the Uwani Health Centre in Enugu, has allegedly been arrested.

The claim was made by Alex Onyia, CEO of Educare, who said she was picked up on May 4 by officers from the Police Force Headquarters Annex in Enugu.

According to Onyia, the arrest was carried out following directives allegedly linked to officials of her former institution, Ezzy College of Nursing.

He wrote: “Joy Ezeugwu has been arrested this morning by a team from Police Force Headquarters Annex, Enugu.

“They were sent by her former school’s administrator, Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu.

“Students and staff oppression have now become a norm.

“We will dismantle it.”

Authorities have not independently confirmed the arrest or responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
