A man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the killing of three members of a family, including a 1-year-old child, in Reading, Pennsylvania, United States.
Jose Luis Rodriguez received three consecutive life sentences after admitting to three counts of first-degree murder, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities said 31-year-old Junior Cabrera-Colon was found shot dead on September 13, 2025. Investigators later discovered that his wife, Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, and their 1-year-old son, Jeyden Peguero, were also missing.
A week later, the bodies of the mother and child were recovered in a wooded area. Prosecutors said the toddler was found “partially submerged in a marshy area.”
Rodriguez later confessed to killing all three victims.
During court proceedings, an assistant district attorney stated that Rodriguez picked up Peguero-Mancebo and her son, shot the woman, drowned the child, and later killed Cabrera-Colon.
“Each of the three killings was premeditated,” the prosecutor said. “Each of the acts was undertaken with the specific intent to kill and with malice.”
According to Fox 29, authorities said Rodriguez told investigators he had “some sort of relationship” with Peguero-Mancebo and cited financial disputes as a possible motive.
Family members described the case as devastating. Cousin Heinel Medrano said, “We’re grateful because it’s not a relief, but the closing of a chapter.”
