Cameroon international goalkeeper André Onana is reportedly determined to fight to re-establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor and is expected to return to Manchester United for pre-season training.

According to The Guardian, Onana believes he will be given a chance to reclaim his spot despite the club signing 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens last summer as his replacement.

Lammens has quickly established himself as the Red Devils’ number one, impressing with his performances. On Monday, he kept a clean sheet in a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Everton, with several crucial saves highlighting why Manchester United invested £18 million to sign him from Royal Antwerp.

Onana faces an uphill battle to regain his place, as his loan spell at Trabzonspor has not gone as planned. His temporary move will not be made permanent, meaning he could leave Manchester United again, either on loan or through a permanent transfer.

The Cameroonian joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in July 2023 on a five-year contract worth an initial £44.1 million, but his first two seasons at Old Trafford have been challenging.
