The move comes in the wake of Giacomo Raspadori’s departure earlier in the window, a development that forced Los Colchoneros to step up their search for a new attacking option.

Lookman has long been on Atletico Madrid’s shortlist, but talks have gathered pace in recent days as the club moved decisively to finalise an agreement.

Turkish side Fenerbahce had initially been in pole position after opening discussions with Atalanta over a €40 million deal. However, Atletico have since overtaken the Istanbul club and are now on the verge of completing the transfer.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid are prepared to pay €35 million upfront, with an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Only minor details remain to be resolved before the deal is completed. The Nigerian international is said to have already given his approval for the move, with negotiations ongoing to finalise personal terms.

Further updates indicate that Lookman has made his preference clear despite receiving an improved financial offer from Fenerbahce. The forward has prioritised Atletico Madrid’s sporting project, and a verbal agreement worth €40 million is reportedly already in place, with formal procedures expected to follow shortly.

If finalised, the transfer will see Lookman bring his pace, versatility, and attacking flair to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano as Atletico aim to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
