Rapper Nicki Minaj has hinted that she may be one step closer to becoming a United States citizen after showcasing what she described as a Trump “Gold Card” on social media.
The Trinidad-born artiste shared photos on Wednesday, January 28, holding the card and claiming it was obtained “free of charge.” She also revealed that she is currently finalising her US citizenship paperwork. In her posts, Minaj openly praised President Donald Trump, referring to him as her “wonderful, gracious, charming” president.
The Trump Gold Card programme, introduced in September 2025, is designed to fast-track US residency. Under the initiative, applicants are typically required to pay a $15,000 Department of Homeland Security processing fee and make a $1 million “gift” in exchange for expedited residency status.
However, Minaj appeared to have bypassed these costs. This coincided with her public appearance alongside Trump at the Trump Accounts Summit held on Wednesday, where she openly declared her support for the president and described herself as his biggest supporter.
The Trump Accounts initiative aims to create tax-advantaged investment accounts for US citizens under the age of 18. The administration has pledged to deposit $1,000 for every child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, to help launch the accounts. Minaj has reportedly committed donations of $150,000 and $300,000 in support of the programme.
In recent months, the rapper has become increasingly vocal in her support for Trump and his administration, marking a notable shift from her earlier stance. In 2018, Minaj disclosed that she entered the United States as an undocumented immigrant and was critical of the administration’s family separation policies at the time.
Earlier this week, Minaj also made a surprise appearance at the White House, where she was seen greeting auto workers as President Trump looked on.
