A 42-year-old Nigerian man, Odudu Ukpanah, has been charged with attempted homicide following a violent attack on a pregnant woman in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States.

Odudu, the only son of the late Akwa Ibom PDP chieftain Engr. Albert Jimmy Ukpanah, was previously accused of killing his father but was fully acquitted by the High Court of Akwa Ibom State on June 2, 2016, under Justice Ezekiel. His father was tragically assassinated at his residence on March 12, 2014.

The recent assault allegedly occurred on November 7, 2025, but details only emerged publicly on Saturday, January 17, 2026, when Odudu’s former schoolmates from Akwa Ibom revealed the incident.

According to police reports, Ukpanah is facing multiple charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, and aggravated assault of an unborn child, following the attack at Seven Gables Apartments.

Authorities said officers responded shortly before noon that day to find a woman with severe head injuries, going in and out of consciousness in the building’s stairwell. Witnesses reportedly saw Ukpanah choke and slam the victim—who was three months pregnant—to the ground before fleeing. He allegedly returned to assault her a second time before police located and arrested him in a nearby apartment.

Ukpanah was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Rogers and is currently being held at Cumberland County Prison without bail.
