Anu Adeleke, the teenage girl whose mother has for years claimed she was fathered by Nigerian singer Davido, has publicly appealed for a DNA test to establish her paternity.
In an emotional Instagram post shared on January 15, Anu said she has endured years of bullying and ridicule from her peers whenever she mentioned that Davido is her father.
According to her, classmates laughed at her claims, leading to severe emotional distress and repeated tears at home from as early as six years old. She said the bullying affected her mental health and required visits to a medical professional for support.
Anu noted that her mother and grandmother had consistently raised her with strong values, stressing responsibility, good behavior, and academic excellence. Despite the challenges she faced, she said she remained focused on her education, eventually emerging as one of the top students in her class and becoming a class prefect.
She explained that the Instagram account through which she made the appeal had been inactive for about five years, as her mother had stopped updating it during a difficult period for the family. Now in secondary school and continuing to excel academically, Anu said she no longer discusses her family background publicly.
However, as she transitions into her teenage years, she said she feels compelled to seek clarity about her identity.
“I am respectfully asking Mr. David Adeleke, singer @davido, for a DNA test to establish my identity,” she wrote. “This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want and believe is the right thing to do.”
Anu added that she had also sent the message directly to Davido via his Instagram direct messages and appealed for him to consider her request.
She concluded by thanking Nigerians who have supported her emotionally over the past seven years, stating that undergoing a DNA test would be an important step toward peace and closure.
“God bless you, Mr. Adeleke,” she wrote.
