White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced that she is expecting her second child, marking a historic moment as the first person to serve in the role while pregnant.
Leavitt shared the news on social media, revealing that she and her husband, real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, are expecting a baby girl in May 2026. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2024.
“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — a baby girl coming in May 2026,” Leavitt wrote in an Instagram post. “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother.”
In the same post, Leavitt expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for what she described as fostering a pro-family environment within the White House.
The pregnancy announcement adds to a series of milestones for Leavitt, who became the youngest White House press secretary in history when she assumed the role at age 27 in January. Prior to her appointment, she served as press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, much of which she carried out while pregnant with her first child.
Leavitt previously told The Washington Post that she returned to work just three days after giving birth in July, following the attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Before joining the 2024 campaign, Leavitt ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022 and earlier served in the White House press office during the first Trump administration.
