The Borno State Police Command has deployed tactical teams, surveillance squads, and operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state today, December 20.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, who also announced temporary vehicular restrictions and traffic diversions in parts of the state.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has put in place a comprehensive security architecture to ensure a safe and hitch-free presidential visit.
“The Borno State Police Command has deployed adequate security arrangements ahead of the visit of the President to Borno State scheduled for today, December 20, 2025,” Daso said.
“The Commissioner of Police has drafted a robust security framework comprising conventional police personnel, tactical teams, surveillance squads, crowd control units, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal operatives to guarantee maximum security throughout the visit.”
The police spokesperson advised residents to expect temporary traffic disruptions, particularly along major routes within Maiduguri, the state capital.
“Members of the public are hereby informed that at intervals, certain roads — especially the parallel route from Airport Road to Shehu Road, Maiduguri — may experience temporary vehicular restrictions or diversions to facilitate the smooth movement of VIPs and ensure public safety,” he added.
Reassuring residents, Daso said the command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the presidential visit.
“The Command calls for the continued cooperation, vigilance, and support of the public as security agencies work to ensure a peaceful and successful visit,” he said.
