Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has firmly dismissed reports of a rift between him and members of the national and state assemblies, describing claims of strained relations as “pure lies.”
He made the remarks on Wednesday, December 10, during the commissioning of the extended and dualised 28.4-kilometre Ahoada–Omoku Road. His clarification comes just a day after announcing his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing ongoing rumours that he had snubbed lawmakers or refused to respond to their concerns, Fubara maintained that he had made “every effort” to convene a meeting with them.
He added that arranging such a meeting was the responsibility of his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as well as other key political leaders.
