The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will take on Egypt in an international friendly on December 16, as part of preparations for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The warm-up match, originally scheduled for Sunday, December 14, in Cairo, has been shifted to Tuesday, December 16. The change follows a new FIFA directive stating that clubs are not required to release players for AFCON duty until Monday, December 15 — a decision affecting several participating nations, including Nigeria and Egypt.

To ensure full player availability, both football federations agreed to push the encounter forward by 48 hours.

NFF officials added that the match will now be treated strictly as a practice game, which allows both teams to use unlimited substitutions rather than the standard five. This flexibility will enable the coaching crews to assess a wider pool of players before final squad selections are made.

The friendly is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. local time in Cairo (7 p.m. Nigeria time) at the Cairo International Stadium.
