Authorities in Kebbi State have arrested a woman accused of kidnapping her own 4-year-old son and demanding a ransom of N5 million from the child’s father.
According to police reports, the woman allegedly conspired with others to hide the boy and later contacted the father with the ransom demand. The father immediately alerted security operatives, leading to a swift investigation and the child’s safe recovery.
Police say the mother and her accomplices were tracked down and taken into custody, where they reportedly confessed to planning the abduction as a way to extort money.
The Kebbi State Police Command has condemned the act, describing it as both criminal and deeply troubling, especially as it involved a mother endangering her own child. The suspects are expected to be charged in court as investigations continue.
The boy has been reunited with his father.
