England international and Chelsea winger, Raheem Sterling, bravely confronted masked burglars with a kitchen knife to protect his children during a terrifying break-in at his home.

According to Daily Mail Sport, the out-of-favour Chelsea star was the victim of an attempted robbery around 7 p.m. on Saturday—about an hour before the Blues’ Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling and his family reportedly escaped unharmed after masked intruders tried to break into their house.

It has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old took steps to defend himself and his children—Thiago, eight, and Thai-Cruz, six—by confronting the intruders with a knife. It remains unclear whether the burglars assumed the 82-cap England international would be at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Wolves.

Sterling lives with his long-term partner, Paige Milian, and their children. He has yet to feature in a first-team match for Chelsea this season.

A spokesperson for Sterling told Daily Mail Sport:

“We can confirm that Raheem Sterling was the victim of a home break-in this weekend.

He and his children were present at home at the time. Whilst this was the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to confirm that he and his loved ones are safe. We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his family be respected at this challenging time.”

Thames Valley Police also confirmed the incident, stating:

“Officers are conducting a thorough investigation and ask anyone with information, or who saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously, to contact police.”

Chelsea are aware of the incident and are offering full support to the player and his family.

This is not the first time Sterling has suffered a break-in. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, he left England’s camp after his home in Cobham was raided while his family were inside. On that occasion, an estimated £300,000 worth of jewellery and watches were stolen.

In 2023, three Albanian nationals—Alfred Isufi (48), Gerard Kalaja (22), and Henri Osmani (44)—were named as suspects linked to the Cobham raid and more than 30 other burglaries across Surrey, Essex, Kent, and Hertfordshire.

Surrey World reported in 2024 that authorities believe the trio have since fled the country. A fourth man, Emiliano Krosi, 24, was convicted last year of 33 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary.
