Popular Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has shared a deeply emotional story about a near-death experience that occurred earlier this year, describing it as both terrifying and life-changing.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Adesua revealed that she faced a serious medical emergency while in the United Kingdom with her husband, Banky W, and their two sons. The incident happened in June and led to an unplanned surgery, one she believes could have ended her life.
“I could have lost my life in June,” she wrote. “What I went through was horrific and ended with an unplanned surgery — and strangely, the surgery itself was the least dramatic part of it all.”
The actress, who was in the UK for speaking engagements at the time, said everything unfolded so quickly and unexpectedly that only divine intervention could explain her survival.
“If even one single detail had been different, I wouldn’t be here today. When I think about it, I shudder.”
Adesua described the experience as a wake-up call — one that not only shook her, but also renewed her faith and strengthened her sense of gratitude.
“There’s nothing anyone can tell me — God is real,” she declared.
Reflecting on what she sees as a second chance at life, Adesua encouraged her followers to live with more compassion, purpose, and kindness.
“Let’s choose to be softer, kinder, gentler, forgiving, patient, loving, and peaceful,” she wrote. “I’ll never take another day for granted — neither should you.”
Her message has since resonated with thousands of fans and followers, many of whom have praised her courage and vulnerability in sharing such a personal moment.
