Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has resumed plenary today, October 7, after serving a six-month suspension imposed by the Senate.
Her suspension followed a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the rearrangement of seats in the chamber.
Akpoti-Uduaghan joined her colleagues as the Senate reconvened this morning after a 10-week recess.
Her return to plenary comes weeks after she first resumed work at her Senate office on Tuesday, September 23, at about 1:09 p.m. At the time, she had described her suspension as “illegal” and vowed not to apologise to her colleagues as a condition for reentry into the National Assembly complex.
The Kogi Central lawmaker was suspended in March 2025 for alleged misconduct during a protest against the reassignment of her seat on February 20. Although the suspension officially lapsed in September, legal disputes reportedly delayed her return until now.
