Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Peace, has been detained by the Edo State Police Command following a heated encounter with Julius Abure, the factional chairman of the Labour Party.
The incident reportedly occurred earlier today at an airport in Edo State, where Mama Peace confronted Abure over the ongoing internal crisis within the Labour Party. In a video shared on social media, she accused him of “destroying the party” and being responsible for its current challenges.
Shortly after the confrontation, Mama Peace released another video alleging that Abure sent thugs to attack her at the airport in response to her outburst.
Providing an update on the situation, Yunusa Tanko, interim chairman of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, confirmed via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Mama Peace had been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) located at the Edo State Police Headquarters, off Sapele Road in Benin City.
As of now, the police have not issued an official statement on her detention or the circumstances surrounding it. The development has sparked reactions online, especially among supporters of the Obidient movement, who are calling for her immediate release.
