The organisers of the Ballon d’Or have announced the three main criteria that will be used to decide the winner of the 2025 edition.
- Individual Performance:
Players will be judged based on their personal performances throughout the year, especially in key moments and important matches. - Team Achievements:
Consideration will be given to a player’s contribution to their team’s success at club or national level in major competitions. - Class and Fair Play:
The organisers also highlighted the importance of behaviour on and off the pitch, stating that the award is not just about talent, but also about sportsmanship and professionalism.
The aim of outlining these criteria is to provide transparency for fans and analysts, as debates over who deserves the award often dominate discussions leading up to the ceremony.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or will take place on Monday, September 22, in Paris, and will be co-organised by UEFA.
