A man has died after being gored during the 10th annual Toro del Gayumbo bull-running festival in Ubrique, Spain.
The event featured two bulls released onto the streets at separate times. The first run, held at 12:30 p.m., passed without incident. However, during the second run at 6:30 p.m., a bull named Mosquetero charged through the town and attacked a middle-aged spectator.
Video footage shows the victim attempting to escape by clinging to a railing attached to a building, but the bull knocked him to the ground and fatally gored him.
He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The tragedy underscores the risks of Spain’s traditional bull runs, which have a long history of causing serious injuries and fatalities among both participants and bystanders. While authorities have yet to issue a statement, many residents are now calling for stricter safety measures at future festivals.
