Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has publicly fired back at Tanzanian activist Mange Kimambi, following the latter’s criticism of her daughter Priscilla and Priscilla’s husband, Juma, over their recent social media content.

Kimambi had accused the couple of distracting Tanzanians from the ongoing political unrest in the country, describing their posts as “stupid” and irrelevant. She also urged them to stay off social media while citizens were focused on protesting against the government.

Iyabo Ojo, however, did not take the comments lightly.

In a strongly-worded Instagram post, she directly addressed Kimambi and came to her daughter’s defense:

@mangekimambi80
“I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner—calling their content stupid and attempting to instill fear and intimidation—is completely unacceptable.

As a parent, I’ve taught my daughter to be confident and authentic. The Mkambala family is very peaceful, but let it be known—I don’t joke when it comes to my daughter.

Regarding the wedding rumors, it wasn’t your government that funded anything. In our culture, it is traditional for the bride’s family to bear the wedding costs. I wanted an elaborate celebration for my daughter in Nigeria, and we Nigerians gave her just that.

I am an activist too, and I stand firmly by my beliefs without resorting to insults or personal attacks. True leadership demands presence and courage. It’s laughable that you, living in America, believe you can dictate to my daughter and her husband, who are peacefully living their lives in Tanzania.

Keep my daughter out of your politics. She will post what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants. She doesn’t need your approval—she is already deeply loved and cherished.

We protect our own. Never forget that.”

The online clash has since sparked widespread reactions, with supporters from both camps weighing in and debating the controversy.
