In a renewed offensive targeting Boko Haram terrorists entrenched in the Sambisa Forest, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) launched a successful operation on May 11, 2025, neutralizing several insurgents and recovering a cache of weapons.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Theatre Command, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday.

“During the operation in Ladin Buttu, one of the terrorists’ key enclaves, troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight. Leveraging superior firepower and tactical skill, the troops successfully neutralized five terrorists and recovered five fully loaded AK-47 rifle magazines along with other ordnance,” the statement read.

Further operations in the area revealed trails of blood along the insurgents’ withdrawal routes, suggesting that several fleeing terrorists sustained gunshot wounds. Ladin Buttu is considered a strategic hub for the insurgents, enabling coordination of logistics and movement within the forest.

The leadership of Operation HADIN KAI commended the troops for their bravery and tactical efficiency, emphasizing that the success reflects the Chief of Army Staff’s directive to intensify offensive operations across all theatres.
