On Friday, President Bola Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians have no reason to be in poverty. During a meeting with governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu urged them to develop and execute policies that prioritize the entire Nigerian populace, emphasizing the need to consider national interest over political affiliations.

Quoting the President, his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that reflecting on the nation’s past and the challenges faced, including infrastructural decay and deficiencies in education and healthcare, Tinubu asserted that Nigeria is not cursed but blessed.

Addressing the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Tinubu identified divisiveness as a major challenge and stressed the importance of the APC working towards healing and unifying the country. He called for a collective national vision, channeling resources into nation-building, and ensuring inclusivity, ownership, and sustainability in development policies.

Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s abundance of human, natural, and material resources, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of quality infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He urged the governors to implement a comprehensive and successful school-feeding program across all states, involving both APC and opposition governors. Tinubu emphasized the need to view the return of children to classrooms as an achievement and to measure economic growth in terms of value and empowerment.

Encouraging investment in agriculture, particularly in livestock farming and dairy, Tinubu commended APC Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje for proposing methods to enhance the school-feeding program. He expressed readiness to invest in this initiative, stating that it would foster economic growth.

President Tinubu also congratulated Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum for revitalizing irrigation systems that support year-long crop cultivation.
