The President General of the Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has expressed his intent to take legal action against the Federal Government due to their appointment of only five ministers from the South-East.

Ohaneze contends that the Federal Government’s allocation of ministerial positions is inequitable towards the South-East, as it falls short of the number of ministerial appointments granted to other regions within the Federal Executive Council.

Iwuanyanwu disclosed this during a press conference held in Owerri, the capital of Imo state. He firmly stated, “It is unjust for the President to allocate only five ministerial slots to the southeast while other regions enjoy ten ministerial positions.”

The leader of Ohanaeze further characterized this action as unjust and in violation of the principles of federal character. Additionally, he appealed to the Federal Government to consider establishing additional states in the South-East in order to achieve parity with other geopolitical zones in the country.

Iwuanyanwu emphasized that the government’s failure to create additional states is contributing to underdevelopment and hardships in the South-East.
