Lagos Government Facilitates Return of 310 Pilgrims from Jerusalem Following Recent attack in Israel

No fewer than 310 Lagos State citizens who embarked on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem have been safely evacuated following a surprise attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Israel last Saturday.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu shared photos of these individuals at the baggage reclaim area on Tuesday, presumably upon their return, and stated, “I am delighted to announce the successful airlift and safe return of all three hundred and ten (310) citizens who participated in the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel.

“I want to express my gratitude for your concern, and I must also commend the Ministry of Home Affairs for their exemplary performance. Our thoughts and prayers are with Israel and the entire global community for lasting peace.”

Israel has been profoundly affected by Hamas’ extraordinary ground, air, and sea assault, drawing comparisons to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, in the United States.

The death toll in Israel has tragically surpassed 900, while the response has been marked by a relentless series of strikes on Gaza, resulting in a death toll of 687 there.

In light of these devastating developments, the Nigerian government has wisely called for an immediate ceasefire. They have expressed concern that continued escalation between both nations will only perpetuate a cycle of pain and suffering for innocent civilians. The government advises both parties to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety and well-being of their civilian populations.
