He held the position of deputy governor of Kogi State from 2011 to 2015 under the administration of Captain Idris Wada.

The former PDP stalwart recognized the intricacies and difficulties of Kogi State’s political landscape, and he applauded Governor Bello for surpassing expectations.

“I served as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State from 2011 to 2015. My familiarity with the state is profound, and I can unequivocally affirm that the current governor has displayed exemplary leadership and a commitment to good governance. His humility is unparalleled, and his talent for fostering unity among the people is truly remarkable,” he stated.

“These attributes played a pivotal role in my decision to align with the APC and pledge my unwavering support to both him and the upcoming administration.”

‘Prominent Figure’ Welcoming Awoniyi, Governor Bello hailed him as a “prominent figure,” emphasizing that his decision to join the APC carries significant weight. He underscored that Awoniyi’s transition symbolizes the public’s endorsement of his accomplishments and their eagerness to bolster his leadership for the state’s prosperity.

“I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Arc Abayomi Awoniyi, as he officially joins our party today. Awoniyi is a distinguished individual who has chosen to align with a significant movement. His decision to become a part of our party fills me with great satisfaction, and I can confidently assert that the APC is committed to delivering even more for the people of our state,” the governor enthusiastically expressed.

The National Chairman of our party, Abdullahi Ganduje, also commends Awoniyi for his choice to embrace the APC. He emphasized the notable surge in defections from opposition parties to the APC in Kogi State under Governor Bello’s leadership. This phenomenon serves as a testament to the governor’s accomplishments and his capacity to unite individuals in pursuit of societal progress.

Ganduje reassured Awoniyi and all others who have already joined or intend to join the APC that they will receive equal opportunities and recognition within our party.

As the gubernatorial election in Kogi State draws nearer, there has been a notable surge in the number of opposition party members defecting to the ruling party.
