Doubts continue to surround the cancer claims made by social media personality Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, as new details emerge.
The controversy gained more attention following her appearance on Arise TV on Saturday, April 4, where she was confronted by medical doctor Adefunke Arowolo over inconsistencies in her story.
During the interview, Blessing explained that she first visited a hospital after discovering a lump in her breast. According to her, initial tests showed the lump was not cancerous, but a follow-up examination months later allegedly revealed it had progressed to stage 4 cancer.
However, Dr. Arowolo strongly challenged this account, pointing out that the sequence of medical procedures described did not align with standard medical practice. She explained that when cancer is suspected, doctors typically begin with imaging tests—such as an ultrasound for younger patients or a mammogram for those over 40—before proceeding to a biopsy.
She also questioned the claim that a patient would be allowed to carry a breast lump for as long as six months without proper investigation, noting that such delays are highly unlikely in a professional medical setting.
When asked about the type of specialist she consulted, Blessing said she saw an oncologist. Dr. Arowolo disagreed, stating that patients are usually referred to an oncologist only after a confirmed biopsy result, not before.
The situation took another turn when Dr. Arowolo revealed that she had contacted the pathologist whose name appeared on the medical report presented by Blessing. According to her, the doctor denied any involvement with the test results.
She further stated that the pathologist is based in Asaba, Delta State—not Enugu as indicated in the report—raising additional concerns about the authenticity of the document.
As the controversy unfolds, questions continue to mount over the credibility of Blessing’s claims, fueling widespread debate online.
