A suspect has been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of 11-year-old Divine Mbarga Atangana in Cameroon. The child’s body was discovered last week in Nkoabang, on the outskirts of Yaounde.
According to local media reports, the young girl was reported missing on March 18, 2026, after leaving her grandmother’s home following a disagreement. Her body was found the following day in an uncompleted building in the neighborhood, sparking shock and outrage among local residents.
Initial findings suggested that the victim had been raped prior to her death, as forensic evidence indicated the presence of biological material. The horrific circumstances of the case prompted immediate calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
A week after the discovery of the body, authorities arrested a suspect—a father of three who is reportedly a parent of one of the victim’s classmates. It is alleged that the suspect was known to the girl, whom she occasionally visited for school-related activities.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has deeply shaken the local community.
