Suspected kidnappers have abducted no fewer than six health workers during a midnight raid on a health centre in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the gunmen arrived at the facility at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, in a bus. They forcefully gained entry into the premises, located opposite Mega School, and rounded up all staff on duty. The assailants reportedly dragged the victims, including interns, into their waiting vehicle before speeding off to an unknown destination.

Patients receiving treatment at the time of the attack were left unharmed but were visibly shaken by the incident.

The police have yet to comment on the development.
