A 46-year-old woman accused of having powers to make men’s private parts disappear has been killed by a mob in Kalumbila District, Zambia.
Police identified the victim as Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe. She was attacked between 11:00 and 13:00 on Friday, March 20, 2026, in the Kisasa area after a 25-year-old man, Prince Ntambo, accused her of causing his manhood to vanish.
According to reports, Ntambo raised the alarm shortly after encountering the woman at a local market, claiming his genitals had suddenly disappeared.
The accusation sparked panic among bystanders, who quickly formed a mob and turned on the woman. Within minutes, the crowd armed itself with sticks, stones, planks, and other objects and began assaulting her.
A concerned resident attempted to shield her in a nearby house, but the mob pursued them, dragged her out, and continued the attack.
Police officers who responded to the scene were also pelted with stones, making it difficult to rescue the victim. She later died from the injuries sustained during the assault, and her body was dumped along the Mwinilunga–Solwezi Road before officers were able to retrieve it.
She was taken to Wumi Mini Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her remains have since been deposited in the mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Eight suspects, including Ntambo, have been arrested and are assisting police with investigations.
Police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha said three officers were injured during the incident, while a police vehicle’s windscreen was smashed by the mob.
“Investigations into the matter have been instituted, and further updates will be provided in due course,” she said.
The incident comes less than a week after a similar case in Chingola, where a 61-year-old man was beaten over claims he made men’s private parts disappear after allegedly tapping them on the shoulder.
Police later confirmed that all complainants were unharmed, and the suspect was released due to lack of evidence, while those responsible for the assault were arrested.
