Movie producer and director, Biodun Stephen, has criticized young Nigerians who post sexually explicit content online under the guise of “catching cruise.”
Biodun recounted watching a video where three young Nigerian women were excitedly asking each other provocative questions, such as who would “perform the best sexual act,” who would get wet, who might have an abortion, or who would engage in a threesome.
She noted that the women seemed thrilled while answering the questions, ending the video with the phrase “na cruise ooo,” implying they were only doing it for fun or to entertain their followers.
However, Biodun expressed frustration with their justification, saying:
“Shut up! What is ‘na cruise’? You are doing it for clout, for views, for likes? You are embarrassing your ancestry and jeopardizing your future because the internet never forgets. I have daughters, and I have shown them these videos, warning them every day never to embarrass me like this. Shame, we need you back because it has deserted us. On behalf of the people, we are sorry. Shame, we need you back! Humanity needs you because it seems we no longer have it.”
