Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has spoken out against immodest dressing, urging women to embrace modesty in how they present themselves.

Speaking at a recent interfaith event in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that true beauty comes from within, not from exposing the body. She encouraged women to be role models and mentors to younger girls, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“I challenge you to have a mentee with you — not just someone you’ve been mentoring all the time, but pour into the life of a young girl from an indigent background. Help them, even if it’s giving them a scholarship. Encourage them, teach them good virtues, and show them how to be good women,” she said.

The First Lady also highlighted the importance of teaching young women how to dress appropriately:

“Teach them how to cover up. Being naked is not beauty. We don’t know why they are doing that, but beauty comes from within. And as for our men, God will help them and ‘crucify their eyes,’” she added.

Tinubu’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions in Nigeria about social media influence, fashion trends, and the pressures facing young women today. She called for guidance, mentorship, and moral leadership as tools to help shape the next generation.
