On-Air Personality Dotun has criticized Nigerians who continue to bash singer Adekunle Gold over controversial tweets posted years ago by his wife, singer Simi.
Simi made headlines in February after old tweets resurfaced in which she wrote about young boys. In one tweet, Simi, then a 23-year-old working at her mother’s daycare, mentioned a four-year-old boy wanting to “french kiss” her. In another, she wrote that her legs could go weak from the attention of a 16-year-old boy. Many Nigerians condemned the posts, accusing her of sexualizing minors and calling for her prosecution. Simi, however, defended herself, saying the tweets were harmless and had no malicious intent.
Despite her explanation, some Nigerians have continued to criticize both Simi and Adekunle Gold. Dotun argues that criticism should be directed at Simi alone, noting that Adekunle is not responsible for the tweets and should not be attacked over them.
