West Ham United F.C. head coach, Nuno Espírito Santo, has instructed winger Adama Traoré to avoid heavy weightlifting sessions at the club’s Rush Green training facility, citing the player’s naturally muscular physique.

The 30-year-old Spanish winger joined West Ham on a permanent transfer from Fulham in January, reuniting with Nuno after their previous stint together at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nuno described Traoré’s physical structure as extraordinary, emphasizing that maintaining his natural speed and agility should take priority over increasing muscle mass. He noted that Traoré’s build is largely genetic and recommended focusing on recovery and injury-prevention exercises rather than intensive gym work.

The coach contrasted Traoré’s approach with that of younger players, who often need to spend long hours building strength. He highlighted that West Ham’s training programs are tailored to individual physical needs.

Since joining the Hammers, Traoré has mostly been used as a substitute, making appearances against Chelsea, Burnley, Manchester United, and Liverpool. Earlier in the season, he recorded 15 appearances for Fulham before completing his transfer.

West Ham’s January transfer window also saw the arrivals of Pablo Felipe, Taty Castellanos, Axel Disasi, and Keiber Lamadrid, with some new signings already making a positive impact, while others continue their recovery from injuries.
