An unspecified number of officers remain unaccounted for after terrorists attacked a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost in Ibrahim Leteh village, along the Wawa–Lumma road in Borgu LGA, Niger State.

The attackers, reportedly moving in large numbers, opened fire on the security personnel around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, forcing some civil defence officers to flee the scene. Several rifles belonging to the officers were also taken by the assailants.

Abubakar Rabiu, spokesperson for the Niger State Command of the NSCDC, said, “We have received similar reports, but the investigation is still ongoing. Until now, we cannot confirm the full extent of what happened. Our commandant will make a statement after the investigation.”
