Nigerian singer Asake has reacted following the death of a young woman during a stampede at his concert in Kenya.
Kenyans took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the death of the victim, identified as Karen Lojore. Many users blamed the incident on poor planning, questioning why only one entrance gate was provided at the concert venue, which reportedly led to impatient concertgoers rushing into the area.
Reacting to the incident, Asake wrote on his Instagram Stories:
“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on December 20 in Nairobi.
My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support efforts to fully understand what happened.
Those responsible should be held accountable.
Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such a loss.
My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace.
God bless Kenya.”
