Actress Sonia Ogala has criticized the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command over its statement regarding the detention of Samuel Ojeogwu, the elder brother of actress Regina Daniels.

Following calls from Regina Daniels and her family demanding Samuel’s release — and allegations that her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, orchestrated the arrest — the FCT Police Command released a statement explaining the reason for Samuel’s detention. The police said he had been granted bail but remained in custody pending the perfection of his bail conditions.

However, Sonia Ogala, who has been openly supporting her colleague Rita Daniels, the mother of Regina and Samuel, faulted the police’s claims, describing them as misleading.

In a post shared on social media, Sonia urged the police to “fear God,” insisting that Samuel was never granted bail. She alleged that he was taken early in the morning to a secluded Magistrate Court in Dutse, while his family and lawyer were still at the police station, unaware of the court proceedings.

According to her, when the case was called, Samuel had no legal representation and was instead assigned a court-appointed lawyer. She said he requested to be represented by his own family lawyer, noting that his biological father, a trained lawyer, had travelled from Lagos to Abuja for the case.

Sonia claimed that by the time the family and their lawyer arrived at the court, Samuel had already been moved, and the magistrate had left and “locked the charges.”

She accused the Nigerian police of misrepresenting the facts surrounding the arrest and detention, adding that the incident had taken a heavy emotional toll on the family. According to her, Rita Daniels had collapsed, while Regina locked herself in a room, threatening to harm herself.

Sonia urged the authorities to act justly and release Samuel, questioning what crime he committed. She alleged that he was being persecuted simply for defending his sister, Regina, during an alleged domestic violence incident involving her husband, Ned Nwoko.
