The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspected serial rapist, Dahiru Ali, for allegedly defiling two 3-year-old girls in Potiskum.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, September 27, 2025. He said the suspect, who worked as a domestic help, lured his victims with sweets and milk.

“The Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Dahiru Ali (19) of Hayin Kwari for the alleged defilement of a 3-year-old girl in the Mutawassada area of Potiskum,” the statement read.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect had earlier committed a similar offence against another 3-year-old girl in the same neighborhood but in a different house. He lured the children to a secluded location with sweets and milk, where he molested them. The suspect has confessed to the crime, and investigation is ongoing.”

In another development, on September 22, 2025, at about 1:00 p.m., operatives of A’ Division Police Headquarters, Damaturu, apprehended a herder, Ibrahim Alh. Ahmadu (24), of Dusuwa Village, Kalallawa area of Damaturu, for threatening a farmer with a gun.

“His arrest followed a distress call from a farmer who reported that a herder had trespassed into his farmland with animals. Upon being challenged, the herder allegedly threatened the farmer with a gun,” the statement added.

The suspect was arrested through a coordinated sting operation, and a shotgun with live ammunition was recovered from him.

“The Command warns that possession and use of firearms to threaten innocent citizens is a serious criminal offence, and offenders will face the full wrath of the law,” Abdulkarim stated.

Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc, fdc, strongly condemned the crimes, including the child defilement cases, illegal possession of firearms, and the unprovoked attack on citizens. He reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on criminality and warned perpetrators to desist or face decisive action.

The CP further urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children to protect them from predators and called on residents to continue supporting the Police with timely information to enhance security and safety.
