The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared two medical doctors wanted for abandoning their duty posts shortly after completing eight years of state-sponsored medical training.

In a statement released to the public, the government expressed strong displeasure over what it described as a betrayal of public trust. The two doctors, whose identities have not been officially disclosed, reportedly left their positions without notice, failing to fulfill their service obligations to the state.

A top government official stated that the doctors benefited from a fully funded eight-year medical education program, sponsored by the state, under the condition that they would serve in government health facilities upon graduation.

“We will track them to any country they go to,” the official said, emphasizing that the government is prepared to pursue legal and diplomatic channels if necessary to hold the individuals accountable.

The statement also noted that efforts are underway to strengthen policies around government-sponsored scholarships and professional training to prevent similar cases in the future.

The Akwa Ibom Government has urged all beneficiaries of public education funding to respect their agreements and serve the state as expected, warning that defaulters will face legal consequences.
