Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted he is “suffering more than the fans” following the team’s poor run of form.

United fell to another punishing defeat on Sunday, losing 3-0 to Manchester City in the derby — a result that deepened the club’s woes and further dented Amorim’s record.

The Red Devils have collected just four points from their opening four matches this season, marking their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 33 years. Amorim also now holds the unwanted record of the lowest win percentage of any United boss since the Second World War.

Since his appointment last November, United have amassed the fewest points of any ever-present Premier League side, averaging one point per game with a -13 goal difference.

“The performance was not good,” Amorim told Sky Sports. “In the important moments, they were better than us. I’m trying to be rational. I see the record. I understand the frustration and the decisions that come with that. I accept the criticism.”

When asked about his message to angry supporters, many of whom left before the final whistle at the Etihad, Amorim responded:

“My message? I will do everything, always thinking about what is best for the club. Until I’m here, I’ll give my best. The rest is not my decision. I’m suffering more than the fans.”
