Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, has dismissed rumours of his death, describing the claims as false, misleading, and the handiwork of attention-seeking bloggers.
A Facebook post had alleged that the actor died after battling diabetes and undergoing spine surgery. However, Agu swiftly countered the story in a video shared on his Instagram page, reassuring fans and colleagues that he is alive and well.
Expressing disappointment that many readily believe such reports without verification, Agu condemned the bloggers responsible for spreading the fake news.
“All because of likes, views, and comments, a blogger wrongly announced my death. They posted ‘RIP’ with my pictures. Let me shock you: Chief Chiwetalu Agu Okenmirin’ezoru1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die any time soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. The one who digs a pit will fall inside; the one who digs a grave will fall into it. I am going to carry my grandchildren,” he declared.
The actor further urged fans to disregard the rumours and report the page responsible for spreading them, stressing that he remains alive by God’s grace.
This is not the first time Agu has been targeted by death hoaxes. In 2020, similar rumours circulated online, which he also debunked while cautioning the public against falling for unverified information.
