On Monday, August 18, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially began its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria, introducing an online pre-registration feature to make the process more accessible.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, described the exercise as a vital step toward encouraging active voter participation in upcoming elections.
The CVR exercise not only allows new voters to register but also enables already registered voters to update their information or transfer their voter records to new locations. Additionally, the commission has enhanced the CVR portal with new tools that let voters check the status of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), locate their designated pickup centers, and find the nearest registration centers if they have yet to register.
“Your PVC is your key to making your voice heard in our democratic process. We urge every eligible voter to seize this opportunity to register, update their information, collect their PVCs, and actively participate in shaping their future,” Yakubu emphasized.
The exercise will continue at designated registration points nationwide, providing ample opportunity for all eligible Nigerians to participate.
