The nominees for the 69th edition of the Ballon d’Or have been announced, with Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, and Mohamed Salah among the top contenders.
Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele is considered the frontrunner for the award after a sensational season, netting 36 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. He also lifted both the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 titles with PSG.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, fresh off a Premier League triumph, and Barcelona’s Raphinha, a La Liga champion, are also included in the star-studded list.
Notably, football icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been left out of the nominations. Ronaldo recently won the UEFA Nations League with Portugal, while Messi currently plays for Inter Miami.
The 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France.
