U.S. President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy this time by taking a direct jab at CBS Mornings co-host, Gayle King. In a fiery post on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that King’s media career is “over,” accusing her of lacking the courage to stand by her supposed past support for him.
“Gayle King’s career is over,” Trump wrote. “She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP. She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”
The outburst appears to be a response to a New York Post article questioning King’s future at CBS, where her morning show has reportedly been struggling with low ratings and criticism for being “too woke.”
This isn’t Trump’s first clash with CBS personalities. Earlier this year, he celebrated the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, blaming what he called Colbert’s “lack of talent” rather than the network’s official reason high production costs.
A CBS insider noted the suspicious timing between Colbert’s exit and the FCC’s approval of the Skydance-Paramount merger, hinting that larger strategic moves may have been in play behind the scenes.
Trump’s attack on King is part of a broader pattern of criticism aimed at high-profile media figures. He’s also taken shots at other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel, suggesting they too could be “next in line.”
Despite the backlash, Gayle King remains a key figure at CBS. But with growing scrutiny from Trump and declining ratings at the network, questions are beginning to swirl about her long-term future on CBS Mornings.
