Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), appeared virtually at a key industry event on Monday, August 4, amid swirling rumours about his possible dismissal.

Ojulari was seen delivering a message via Zoom during an event hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Nigerian Council) in Lagos. He was listed as one of the keynote speakers, addressing an audience of top stakeholders and professionals in the oil and gas sector.

His participation has sparked fresh interest due to ongoing speculation about his job security. There have been unconfirmed reports suggesting that Ojulari may be facing dismissal by the presidency, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

So far, neither the presidency nor NNPCL has issued an official statement to confirm or deny the rumours.

The last publicly acknowledged engagement of the NNPCL boss was a town hall meeting with company staff at the NNPCL Towers in Abuja, as noted in a corporate press release dated July 30.

While questions linger, Ojulari’s presence—albeit virtual—signals that, at least for now, he remains active in industry affairs.
