Nollywood actor and comedian, Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has shared his views on the recent wave of national recognition and rewards being given to outstanding Nigerians by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a post on Instagram, Umoh praised the President for honoring members of the Super Falcons and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with commendations and generous gifts. He described the gesture as “commendable,” particularly because it celebrated non-political citizens who have brought pride to the country through hard work and dedication.

“It’s beautiful to see everyday Nigerians being recognised, not just politicians,” he wrote.

However, the comic actor didn’t stop at praise. He used the opportunity to make a passionate appeal to the presidency, calling on the government to also reward Nigerian police officers and military personnel—especially those serving on the frontlines, risking their lives daily for the safety and unity of the nation.

“There has to be a Nigeria first for us all to be Nigerians,” Umoh stated, highlighting the need to value and appreciate the selfless service of security forces who often go uncelebrated.

His message has sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that more recognition should be given to the country’s unsung heroes in uniform.
