Nollywood actor Prince Eke has shared his thoughts on the rising insecurity in Nigeria’s farming states, especially Benue, suggesting it might be more than just random violence — he believes it could be part of a bigger plan to promote Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in the country.

In a recent post, Prince Eke wrote:

“Over the past decade, Nigeria’s agricultural regions, particularly Benue State, have been plagued by growing insecurity targeting farmers. This isn’t just a mere coincidence—it seems to point to a larger agenda, possibly connected to the global push for GMOs in Africa.

Benue, often called the ‘food basket of the nation,’ depends heavily on small-scale farmers using indigenous seeds. However, ongoing attacks, herdsmen violence, land grabs, and kidnappings are forcing many farmers off their land. As food production declines, foreign corporations appear ready to offer GMO ‘solutions.’

With traditional farming under threat, local food systems risk collapsing, increasing Nigeria’s dependence on imported, patented seeds.

This insecurity may be creating the perfect environment for GMO interests to take control.

Am I overthinking?”

Prince Eke’s remarks highlight growing concerns among Nigerians about the impact of insecurity on food security and traditional farming practices. As Benue faces continued violence, questions are being raised about who ultimately benefits and what the long-term consequences might be for Nigerian agriculture.
