According to him, these service providers don’t necessarily need access to the personal updates shared on the platform.
The man argued that WhatsApp statuses are often meant for close friends and family, and allowing unrelated workers to view them might feel intrusive or uncomfortable for some users. He believes that personal boundaries should be maintained online, just as they are in real life.
This perspective has divided opinions online. Some agree, saying that privacy is important and that social media content should be shared thoughtfully. Others feel that WhatsApp statuses are meant to be public to one’s contacts, regardless of profession, and that anyone who has you saved in their contacts can view them.
