Police operatives attached to the Onitsha Main Market Division, with support from local traders, have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a 17-year-old boy. An automatic pump-action gun was also recovered during the operation.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects—believed to be security operatives attempting to arrest another individual—opened fire indiscriminately during the incident. Tragically, a stray bullet struck and killed the teenage boy.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikoiye Orutugu, condemned the suspects’ conduct, describing it as unprofessional and avoidable. He has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a thorough investigation.
