American singer and actress Halle Bailey has filed court documents requesting sole legal and physical custody of her 16-month-old son, Halo Saint, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.).

Bailey, known for her role as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, is also asking the court to restrict DDG’s visitation rights. She proposes that DDG be allowed supervised visits once a week for six hours, facilitated by a professional company, while Halo remains in Los Angeles County.

In addition, Bailey is seeking to prevent DDG from taking their son outside Los Angeles County and wants a child abduction prevention order in place. She alleges that DDG has a history of abusive behavior toward her, including instances of taking or hiding Halo without her consent, threatening to do so, and failing to cooperate in co-parenting.

Bailey requests that DDG be prohibited from moving with Halo without her written permission and from applying for or holding passports or other important documents for their son. If DDG is permitted to travel with Halo, Bailey wants the court to require advance notice of travel plans, including copies of round-trip tickets, contact information, and an open airline ticket for her in case Halo is not returned.

In the court documents, Bailey provides detailed accounts of confrontations with DDG, including one in January when she asked him to discuss a visitation schedule. She describes the situation escalating quickly: “Darryl kept repeating ‘Get out of my car, BITCH,’” while Halo was crying. Bailey says she felt unsafe leaving Halo with DDG due to his agitated state and refusal to provide a return time.

The encounter reportedly turned physical. Bailey alleges that during a struggle, DDG pulled her hair and slammed her face into the steering wheel, chipping her tooth. She stopped resisting due to pain and concern for her son, but was trapped inside the car until DDG drove to his home. Upon arrival, Bailey told his family what happened and requested a visitation schedule, but they allegedly told her to leave Halo and go.

Bailey includes multiple examples of alleged abuse in her filing and states she has tried to avoid court proceedings. “I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this,” she wrote. “I never know when he is going to demand our son to be in his mother’s care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse.”

The court granted Bailey a temporary restraining order against DDG on May 13, requiring him to stay at least 100 yards away from both her and Halo, including at Halo’s school and in Bailey’s vehicle.

Bailey and DDG began their relationship in 2022 and separated in 2024. A court hearing regarding custody is scheduled for June 4.
