.A viral video circulating online shows two men who claim to be relatives of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, accusing him of neglecting his hometown and family since rising to international fame.
The video, reportedly filmed at Osimhen’s family home in his local government area in Edo State, features two men—identified as Omuyiwa John and Monday Egbe—who allege that the football star has not returned to his roots or offered support to the people he grew up with.
According to the men, they share a grandfather with Osimhen and had supported his late father, Patrick Osimhen, during difficult times. They recounted how the extended family contributed financially to assist Patrick when he returned from Lagos in dire straits, and even helped fund the burial of Osimhen’s mother.
“We all grew up here. We went to the same primary school,” one of the men said. “When his father came from Lagos, he said he had no money. The whole family gathered money to support him. But since Osimhen made it, he hasn’t come back—not even when his father died. They buried him in Lagos.”
The men expressed deep disappointment, claiming Osimhen has severed ties with the family and the community despite his global success. One of them recalled the excitement in the village when Osimhen rose to prominence, noting that even the Edo State governor once brought a television to the local palace so residents could watch the footballer’s game.
They concluded by questioning why Osimhen has allegedly failed to return home or acknowledge the support his family received during trying times.
