Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, has claimed that several associates of the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, are in talks to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on TVC on Monday, May 6, Bwala revealed that one of Obi’s key aides has already joined the APC, while another is currently engaged in discussions with party leaders. He further stated that one of Obi’s media spokespersons has shown interest in defecting to the ruling party.
“Governors are joining our party independently, but more significantly, key figures from the last presidential election are also aligning with us,” Bwala said. “For example, one of Peter Obi’s handlers is already with us, another is in talks, and even one of his media aides is considering the move.”
Bwala emphasized that their interest in the APC is not motivated by financial incentives, but by a shared belief in the current administration’s vision.
“No one is offering them money. They are joining because, although we are not perfect, they see that our intentions are genuine, our focus is clear, and we are committed to building a national consensus,” he added.
